Here at Race 4 Truth we had to have a small chuckle at this tweet from Cancer Research UK’s new CEO which proudly boasted that she had volunteered at the charity’s Winter Run 10k.
Given she is paid a salary of £240,000 a year, we figure that ‘volunteering’ for the odd event here and there is the least she should do!
Something else she could do is bring to an end a quarter of a century of lies, deceit and hypocrisy and ensure her organisation finally recognise Jim Cowan for creating the Race for Life.
In the Race 4 Truth, Cancer Research UK are lagging behind!
We are shocked and appalled to have noted the extortionate sum of money paid to CRUK’s CEO. We have been contributing to Cancer Research for about 25+ years, believing that most of the money donated by the public went directly for research. Realising that a substantial sum is creamed off to go into the pocket of a greedy CEO we are cancelling further donations forthwith to CRUK.
Hi Janet, like you we find it an astonishing sum. Also shocking is the other high salaries paid by the ‘charity’ along with many other costs which have to come out before any research is funded (https://race4truth.com/cancer-research-uk-donations-supporting-fat-cat-salaries/). There are also many other issues, such as the lies by omission (how many people know that not a single penny from Race for Life entry fees funds research, or that nothing from merchandise sales does either, or that the ‘charity’, when asked, wouldn’t even say what percentage of funds raised by Race for Life participants funds research; only saying that it goes to fund Cancer Research UK, not the same thing). Questions about hypocrisy and ethics also remain unanswered.
Absolute filth… Shame on you Michelle Mitchell. On behalf of my whole family who have suffered loss through cancer.
Let’s hope the disease doesn’t find its way to you as karma.
